Support

Major Donors

The work of the Archives has been made possible with the transformative support of the following donors:

Current

In addition to major donations (below), we thank private donors for creating Archives endowments that help us sustain our long-term work: the Ain Family Foundation endowment, the Rochl Korn endowment, the Allan Raymond endowment, the Sam & Esther Segal endowment, and the Paul & Babey Trepman endowment.

The Alex Dworkin Foundation for Jewish Archives

The Alex Dworkin Foundation for Jewish Archives at the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal encourages and sustains dynamic initiatives in Canadian Jewish heritage preservation. Thanks to the generous legacy of Alex Dworkin, the Foundation helps support the operations of the Jewish Public Library Archives.

The Azrieli Foundation

The Azrieli Foundation supports the initiation of the Digital Transformation Campaign of the Archives and Special Collections. Its impact includes increased access and discoverability of archival and special collections materials, the implementation of a digital preservation program, improved reference and outreach services, streamlined systems to reduce workflow redundancy, and a larger storage footprint. It is infrastructural support that empowers the Archives to deliver on its promise of excellence.

Past

In addition to major donations (below), we thank private donors for project specific donations that made a large impact: Alan Handel, Sorel Cohen, the Jewish Community Foundation, the Soiferman family, and the Raby family, among many others.

The Peter & Ellen Jacobs Virtual Archives Fund

The Peter and Ellen Jacobs Virtual Archives Fund empowers the Jewish Public Library Archives to increase its accessibility through digitization and remote access initiatives. The fund helped spearhead the Archive’s digitization initiatives and remains instrumental in helping the Archives transcend its physical walls.

The Rosalind & Morris Goodman Family Fund

The Rosalind & Morris Goodman Family Fund launched the Heritage & Digitization Centre of the Jewish Public Library Archives. The fund empowers the Archives to tackle the challenges of digitization.

The Azrieli Foundation

The Azrieli Foundation supports the educational outreach and digitization of the Jewish Public Library Archives. The fund helps digitize and preserve archival and genealogical records and offers access to them through the Canadian Jewish Heritage Network. It also supports instruction on historical literacy for Montreal students.

The Sonia & David Oberman Archives Internship Fund

The Sonia & David Oberman Archives Internship Fund offers an annual internship to a young person looking for experience in the archival world. The fund enables the Jewish Public Library Archives to mentor a new generation of archivists and, in turn, benefit from essential support in advancing operations and special projects.
