Legacy Programs

The Jewish Public Library is working to ensure that the unparalleled programs and resources available at the Library will always be here.  Together, with your support, we can create, ensure and shape the future of the Library.

What is a legacy gift and how to create one?

The most common type of Legacy Gift is a charitable bequest made in your will; however, you may also consider a gift of securities or life insurance.

Cash gifts may be made outright or pledged over a number of years and can be claimed as a tax credit. Gifts of securities, bonds or real estate may also be made to the Library, and a tax receipt will be issued for an amount up to the fair market value of the gift at the time of the donation.

A major advantage of gifts of appreciated securities, the capital gains tax is completely eliminated so that you enjoy considerable tax savings.

For information on how to include The Jewish Public Library in your will and other types of Legacy Gifts, please call Michael Crelinsten at (514) 345-2627 ext. 3018.

The Jewish Public Library is one of 45 community organizations and institutions which are partners in the “Life and Legacy” Project – a community wide program that builds for the future of our Montreal Jewish community – institution by institution.
