Book Donations

Due to COVID-19, the Jewish Public Library has suspended its book donation program until further notice. We thank you for your interest in donating books to the Jewish Public Library. For information on other ways to provide support please click here.
The Library is not able to advise on book donation alternatives at this time.

About Book Donations

The Jewish Public Library accepts a limited number of book donations. Due to space restrictions, we ask for you to call in advance to verify that we are able to accommodate the donation. Donated books are generally sold in our ongoing used book sale. Proceeds go toward the purchase of new books.

Donations are only accepted during library opening hours.

What you need to know:

Donated items must meet the following criteria:

  • Material must be in very good condition
  • Only books, CDs and DVDs will be accepted.
  • Any other material, including magazines, videocassettes, audiocassettes, computer books, textbooks and encyclopaedias will not be accepted by staff.
  • Religious works that are intended for burial should not brought to the library, but directly to a Jewish cemetery such as the Baron de Hirsch Cemetery, 5015 De La Savane St, Montreal

If your materials don’t meet these criteria please consider donating them to other non-profit organizations.
