Genealogical Research

On the first Sunday of each month, from 10 AM until noon, the Jewish Public Library hosts the Jewish Genealogical Society’s free Sunday Morning Family Tree Workshops. These workshops provide one-on-one research help. Experts answer research questions and do live searching of genealogical databases.

There are also a number of titles and databases which can help you in your genealogical pursuits. In order to use the databases below, you will need to join the library as a member or visit the library’s computer centre.

Through our multimedia center, the library also offers in-library access to www.ancestry.ca, Visual History Archives and has the status of an affiliate library for Family Search.

The JGS-Montreal also hosts regular lectures and events, which can be found in the library’s seasonal program brochure.
